2018 La Chouette Pinot Noir
The 2018 La Chouette Pinot Noir is made exclusively from grapes purchased from La Chouette Vineyard located in the picturesque hills ten miles south of Salem, Oregon.
The Wine has fresh red apples on the nose giving way to toasted hazelnuts and Herb de Provence; reminiscent of a summer picnic. The palate is juicy with a nice savory character and a long bright finish. French for owl; La Chouette, was named for the nightly serenades of the owls that reside in the oak trees bordering the vineyard.

2018 La Chouette Vineyard Pinot Noir
The grapes for this wine come from La Chouette Vineyard, located in the picturesque hills ten miles south of Salem, Oregon. La Chouette is owned and operated by Michelle & Ben Miller. The name La Chouette (French for owl) was inspired by the nightly serenades from owls, living in the giant oaks bordering the vineyard.

Vineyard: La Chouette Vineyard
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
The fruit was gently de-stemmed, cold soaked for four days, then gradually allowed to warm up prior to fermentation. The fruit was pumped over once a day at the onset of fermentation and then punched down once per day until dryness. It was then settled for 2-3 days prior to being racked to a variety of French oak barrels for ageing.
Other notes
2018 was the seventh in a string of warm vintages for Oregon. It was defined by a very dry summer, which made for small clusters and a relatively small crop. July was hot, leading to the first signs of veraison in early August, but powerful evening maritime winds kept night-time temperatures cool throughout July and August, preserving acidity in the fruit as it ripened. September finally brought a couple of welcome rain events that refreshed the vines and kept them active through the final ripening period.
